Driving Under Influence
Law State by StateEach state has its own laws regarding “Driving Under Influence”, whether that be under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs, narcotics or other illicit drugs.
There are several terms used for the same basic offense of drink-driving, they are as follows:
DWI - "Driving While Intoxicated/Impaired”
OUI – “Operating Under Influence” - used in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island
OMVI – “Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated”- used in Ohio
DUIL – “Driving Under the Influence of Liquor”
DUII – “Driving Under the Influence of an Intoxicant” - used in Oregon
OWI – “Operating While Intoxicated/Impaired” - used mainly in Wisconsin
DWUI – “Driving While Under the Influence” - used in Wyoming
DUBAL – “Driving with an Unlawful Blood Alcohol Level”, also used is UBAL
